Inspiration

Hello! We are Priscilla and Shawn Tan! Our daughters, Andrea (aka Monmon) and Aurelia (aka Momo), are the love of our life. Like all parents, we believe our little ones should grow up knowing that they can be anything they want to be. There are so many awesome female role models and we want to give Andrea and Aurelia our own take on their inspiring stories - focusing on their struggles, how they overcame them and their achievements. Through the Awesome Women Series, we want to inspire today's girls to be tomorrow's role models!

Values

To inspire young girls to be anything they want to be, the Awesome Women Series pays tribute to female role models for young girls to admire and emulate. We emphasize important character traits that these female role models exemplified; success traits like grit, courage, resilience, optimism, perseverance, curiosity, strength and conscientiousness. Most importantly, we want to associate these success traits with being a girl.

The Series

The Awesome Women Series books provide a comprehensive sample of female role models for young girls to pick from. Each box set focuses on a particular category of female role models. Our first box set was on female Leaders (in government, politics, and international organizations) who made a positive impact on society. We have also published our second box set featuring female Activists fighting for various social causes. Our future box sets will focus on other exciting categories such as Entrepreneurs, Architects, Artists, STEM-ists, Sportswomen, etc. Stay tuned for them!

Giving Back

We want to inculcate in Andrea and Aurelia the value of giving back to the community. We believe all of us need to work together to build a brighter future for our little girls. To play our part, we are donating a portion of our proceeds to charities that support girls’ education and women empowerment.

One of the charities that we will be supporting is Room to Read, a global non-profit organization for improving literacy and gender equality in education in low-income communities around the world. Find out more about their programs here!

Our Illustrator

Kristen Kiong is an illustrator and calligrapher whose (part-time) career as an artist first began with a goal to "calligraph her own wedding invites". As word got around, she began receiving more requests for commission work, and is now known for her "Little People" series and posters for all seasons of life.

A full-time healthcare professional, Kristen actively illustrates for public health initiatives as well as Fertility Support SG. She is also a mother to two beautiful girls, both of whom have adopted her love for art and music. Find out more about her and her work here.
